Willow Creek is the ultimate one-day float if you're short on time and money, but want to catch a lot of fish. It's a prime Pacific Salmon and Rainbow Trout river just about an hour and a half drive from Anchorage.
To float Willow Creek non-stop would take less than two hours, so time is on your side when it comes to fishing this wooded stream. Willow attracts 4 species of Pacific Salmon...the mighty Chinook (King), the Cohos (Silver) and Chums (Dog) roll in every summer. Pinks (Humpy) swim through every even-numbered year. An occasional Rainbow Trout lurks under the dead drift, but Salmon will dominate your lures. The mouth can be extremely crowded, but once you float past the walk-in fishermen, you'll have access to unpressured holes. An all-day float trip means just that. We'll fish until you limit out or until your catch and release has caught up to you.
