A quick 40 minute flight from Anchorage and you'll land on a remote copper-tinged

river with excellent fishing.

Start your 6 day 50 mile trip at Judd Lake.

Fish Talachulitna Creek for the first 18 miles...a small clear water river full of Rainbow Trout,

Arctic Grayling and Salmon (which species depends on your timing).   It's a quiet wilderness

experience as motor boats are prohibited in the creek for most of the summer.

Tal Creek meets Tal River and the water widens moving toward some rapids known as

"Hell's Gate" followed by a canyon of Class IV water rushing through large boulders...a thrill ride

coasting you toward more incredible fishing all the way to the mouth of the Skwentna River.

There are several lodges on the lower river with some motor boat activity, but there's no shortage

of river and little chance you'll ever have to share your fishing holes.

Unlike some of the Southwest Rivers, there are gravel bars opening perfect camping spots

at nearly every bend.
