If you want to challenge the raw Alaskan wilderness while catching beautiful Rainbow Trout and fat Salmon, the American Creek is for you. Fish for 18-30 inch Leopard Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Sockeye Salmon and Coho Salmon. Get ready for incredible wildlife! See Brown Bears at nearly every turn, Moose, Caribou, Fox, waterfowl and Bald Eagles. It's a 30 mile float trip beginning at Hammersly Lake, where the river is wide and shallow. It then narrows into miles of canyon with deep pools branching out into braided streams and slowing into a deep channel just before Lake Colville where we take out. This is only a float trip for the serious outdoorsmen! Fishing American Creek comes with many potential hazards that you must be willing to risk...bears, sweepers, a Class IV canyon with 4-8 ft. drop, swift current, large rocks...just to name a few. This trip requires you to be in good physical condition. You'll be asked to help push the boat through problem areas of the river. But the work is well worth it. The fish are abundant, and there's a great chance you'll never see another boat on the river.
